1966 Gibson USA SG Special Cherry

Gibson 1966 SG Special

This is a "SG Special" model, the last period of the small guard.

There are repair marks of body cracks from the knob area to the body end and body sides.

The damaged area has been repaired from the tip of the head, and the last three digits of the serial number appear to have been imprinted along with it.

The neck heel and end shape are post '67, and may have been repaired as there is an unusually shaped gap in the neck joint. (The neck heel may also have been reshaped)

Both pickups have been replaced by an unknown manufacturer.

The nut and tuners have been replaced and there are extra screw hole marks for the tuners.

The pots are '65 for the bridge volume and tone, and the rest cannot be identified as the pots are soldered on.

The entire body has been over-sprayed.

There are numerous tiny dents and scuffs can be seen throughout, especially on the body back.

The frets are not dented, about 50~60% remaining, and there are no problems with the neck and truss rod.
