This glorious Gibson is big, bold, GOLD and old! This guitar is amazingly clean and has nothing but a bright future ahead of it! This ‘53/’54 Es-295 has a serial number of A14397 and it’s a great example of the iconic link between early rock and roll and rockabilly. A young native Tennessean named Scotty Moore showed up at a small studio in Memphis, Tennessee and proceeded to belt out some of the coolest country blues, hillbilly, and Chet Atkins-style licks ever heard at that time! To make a long story short, music would never be the same again! Two hot P-90s and several layers of gold lacquer give this one super tone and excellent sustain that is perfect for all styles of music. This particular guitar was owned by world famous Rock and Roll Hall of Famers AEROSMITH and used in the studio on their album Honkin’ With Bobo. It looks like this one has had some factory restoration here and there (a repainting of the headstock and repro tuning gears) but otherwise it is hard to tell with the overall paint job. Could just be a more recent preservation overspray. The gorgeous gold finish over the maple top, back, and sides is nothing short of eye-popping and flawless! The gold still shows impressions of the greenness that seeped through the aged finishes on all of these early examples. It has a fantastic fast-fretting all-original 25″ scale neck and a 16” wide by 3.5” deep body. This one is off the charts in recapturing that old Sun Sessions sound. Easily one of the best and most memorable guitars in the shop! Comes with original brown Gibson case. Call or email us for more info!
