An early example of an Alembic bass, this 1974 Series I fretless model is as much a work of art as it is a great instrument. With maple and walnut neck thru construction, a fretless ebony fingerboard, and the original separate preamp and all the cables, this early 3 digit serial number model is a great example of the superb build quality for which Alembic is known. Each instrument at this time was made to order and original examples have become quite difficult to find. This bass also features intricately tooled brass hardware and backplates complete with an actual inlaid ruby gem stone. Countless legendary bass players of the 70s made great use of Alembic instruments from John Paul Jones to Phil Lesh. A beautiful addition to any bass arsenal and a beautiful work of art, as well!
