Aria Diamond ES-1202 Sunburst 1960's Vintage

Summary: This Aria Diamond 1202T was made by Matsumoku, the company that also made guitars for Univox, Lyle and Conrad, among many others. The guitar is in fine shape and it plays like a dream. It looks to be in all-original condition besides the arm from the whammy bar which has a really cool custom tip made for it that matches the guitar extremely well. Ships in an aftermarket polyfoam case.

Body: Semi hollow body which seems to be all maple with f holes, a black/red sunburst finish, 7 ply b/w/b binding on top and white binding on back.

Neck: It has a really comfortable deep C bolt on neck, finished to match the body. The rosewood fretboard is bound in w/b/w, has MOP block inlays, 21 frets, pearloid headstock overlay, closed back 3 on a plate tuning machines, 24 ¾” scale length and a nut width of 1 11/16”.

Pickups/Hardware: The pickups and hardware seem to be all original besides the custom tremolo bar and tip. The pickups have a really nice crisp natural quality to them. The bridge is rosewood based with roller barrel saddles and thumb wheel height adjustments. It has a 3-way pickup selector 2 volumes, 2 tones, the original vibrato unit that operates with ease and really classy pearloid pickup rings, pickguard and 3-way switch surround.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in unbelievable condition for its age. The finish looks great and other than a few nicks and scratches here and there it’s in fantastic vintage condition. There is a crack in the finish behind the headstock and some scratches around it. One ding on the neck behind the second fret, small binding lift on the treble side cutaway and the saddle tips forward sometimes but isn’t major and is easy to push back.

Playability: The neck is straight, the frets are in good shape with no gouges, and the action has been set up low by our in house luthier and strung up with flatwounds. This is a fantastic player with tons of vintage vibe.

Modifications: The vibrato bar has been customized with a new tip that looks really neat and functions very well.
