SN 154. Circa OM-28 originally owned by Al Pettaway. Al was an extraordinary finger stylist (any style really) whose beguiling guitar arrangements were an integral part of the Dream Guitars web site. Clearly, Dream Guitars, Al and Circa have a special relationship; a love of Circa guitars is clearly genuine, not just marketing. That kind of love and respect is earned and Circa consistently rises to that level.
This is a classic OM-28 with Madagascar/Adirondack. Appointments include herringbone trim, pyramid bridge with drop-in saddle, zig-zag back strip and short pattern snowflake inlays. It’s a 30’s style construction that borrows some style details from the 20’s 000-28s. She has the feel of a strong players guitar with long scale, slightly taller action (7/64” on the bass side) and strap button mounted in the rim rather than the heel. The nut is 1-3/4” and string spacing 2-3/8. The neck has a nice full feel to it – very much like a ’34 Martin. Lightweight construction. The Adi top has fine grain trending toward medium around the center seam. Straight grained rosewood with a chocolate color. No cracks.
This was Al’s main gigging and performing guitar. Naturally there’s a few bumps and light playwear east of the sound hole. (Is there a better person to break it in?) We can set this up any way you like. It comes with the original Ameritage case.
