Description

SN: 230. It’s my privilege to offer this stunning new build from John Slobod of Circa Guitars. It’s been a number of years since I’ve had a Circa Guitar in the shop. I’m blown away by the build quality, the tone woods and the voicing. There is a level of detail I’m just not seeing anywhere else. There are little artistic touches everywhere: the trim, the binding, the inlay, the way the woods are sealed, even the end cap of the heel. This level of attention to detail shows me John is a master builder on top of his game.

This OM-40 is a custom order with significant upgrades. The back and sides are composed of master grade Brazilian. The top features a master grade red spruce with even grain. It’s adorned with a Style 40 abalone inlay bound in rosewood and an abalone rosette. The ebony fretboard is bound in black with a thin white racing stripe and shows style 42 fretboard inlays. The headstock is similarly bound and features a superbly executed 30s Martin torch.

Inside, the bracing is red spruce – forward shifted scalloped X. The scale is the longer 25.4”. The voice is still developing but already it shows the balance, clarity and dynamic range of a Martin OM-45. If you’ve been coveting a Circa, or want to add to a high end collection, they don’t come any better than this one.
