Here we have a brand new Collings OM-1A JL which is the result of a collaboration between the late Bill Collings and Julian Lage to create a signature guitar in the spirit of Lage’s cherished 1939 Martin 000-18.
Basic Specs: Aged Nickel Waverly tuners. Old style script peghead logo. 1 11/16 inch Bone nut. Honduran Mahogany neck with a 25.5 inch scale length. Designed to replicate the feel of Julian’s well-worn pre-war Martin neck profile, this guitar has a custom carve asymetrical neck profile with a depth of .83 inches at the first fret and one full inch at the twelfth fret. Ebony fingerboard with a compound (14-26 inch) radius and 20 medium frets. This one has the optional Adirondack spruce top with scalloped bracing. Satin lacquer finished Honduran Mahogany back and sides. Ebony bridge with Bone drop-in saddle.
This guitar was the last design project on which Bill Collings worked and it’s a fitting tribute to his life-long dedication to making the finest guitars in the world. The Julian Lage signature model is a truly wonderful small-bodied guitar that will only get better in the decades to come. A lifetime guitar for sure.
