Offered for sale:

Vintage c1968 Coral Longhorn L2N6 Hollow body electric guitar serial number 835016.

This guitar is in very good condition. There has been some damage to the bottom side of the body at the tailpiece attachment point. It appears to have taken an impact and has been repaired the area; it is structurally stable and functional but cosmetically apparent. The rest of the instrument is in remarkably good condition and very original including the serial number tag and original pickguard.

The Coral brand was founded by Nathan Daniel after he sold Danelectro to MCA in 1966. “Nate” Daniel was known for unusual designs and concepts like the electric sitar and many more models. These Longhorns were and still are quite unique. Featuring Japanese bodies made in the Kawai Piano factory combined with Danelectro pickups and wiring (right down to that famous copper foil shielding). Coral instruments were marketed as professional guitars as opposed to more student Danelectros.

The Coral longhorn L2N6, is a 2-pickup 6-string model. The longhorn shape is representative of Danelectro, but it was also carried over by the Coral brand, and was produced from 1967 to 1969 as a hollow body, arched top box longhorn.

Features include a maple body with arched maple top, maple neck with a neck tilt feature and a 5-point headstock of Jacaranda. The nut is brass, the fingerboard is also Jacaranda bound with Rosewood and has 23 frets. The joint between the neck and the headstock is also a unique and unusual feature.

The scale length is 24.5” with a nut width of 1 ¾” and 12” radius. The weight is 6.4 lbs.

The two great sounding lipstick pickups are wired to two volume and two tone controls with a master volume control and pickup selector switch. Additional features include Kluson closed back tuners and a Rosewood bridge.

Visually, the Longhorns are stunning guitars with their elongated, sharp horns, sonically, lipstick pickups are the real deal.

These guitars are extremely rare, and even more so, complete examples with the original pickguard, and headstock label, don’t come up for sale frequently.

Gig bag is included.

“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship. If you decide to purchase this guitar, please let us know what gauge strings you prefer.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
