Vintage Russian Electro-Harmonix BASSBALLS effects pedal.
This pedal is in very good to excellent condition, showing limited playing wear, the rubber feet are missing.
The Bassballs was originally built by Electro-Harmonix in the late '70s, and has been more recently reissued by the modern Electro-Harmonix company. In the early '90s, this pedal was also built by Sovtek in Russia and distributed under the Electro-Harmonix name.
The Bassballs pedal is a twin dynamic envelope follower for electric bass, working well with guitars too. The effect uses two dynamic filters that respond sensitively to attack variations, creating shifting peaks and notches, thus producing vowel-like overtones. The switchable distortion mode produces warm harmonic distortion, intensifies the overtones and amplifies the deep resonance of the effect. The "Sensitivity" control determines how sensitive the filters are to playing dynamics. It is housed in a black, folded steel chassis.
