Description
Summary: The early Epiphones were well-received, and with the rise in popularity of solid body instruments in the early 1960s, a second Crestwood model, with an additional pickup, was added to the available range: the Crestwood Deluxe. In fact, it represented the pinnacle in Epiphone solid body production, and was only produced in small numbers. In total, just 219 Crestwood Deluxe guitars left Kalamazoo, compared to 1349 examples of the Epiphone Crestwood Custom. There is no denying the Crestwood Deluxe is an exceptionally nicely built, finely appointed and well-equipped guitar. This particular Epiphone Crestwood Deluxe plays and sounds incredible.

Body: Mahogany, double cutaway.

Neck: Mahogany with a bound ebony fingerboard, bound batwing headstock, Mother of Pearl block inlays, bone nut, 24.75” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: 3 mini humbuckers (neck pickup has been re-wound), Grover tuning keys, Tremotone vibrato, volume/tone controls, 3-way pickup selector, Tun-O-Matic bridge.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in good shape for being built in 1965. The batwing headstock has some beautiful finish checking on the front of it. There is a chip of paint (seen in photos) missing on the back of the neck near the 10th fret.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The original frets are very flat and very low but they do not have major fret-wear and the instrument plays great up & down the fingerboard.

Modifications: Neck pickup has been rewound. The original nut was replaced with a hand cut bone nut.

Weight: 7lbs., 15oz.

Case: This guitar ships in a vintage tear-drop hard-shell case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
