Description

1966 Epiphone E230TD Casino. Arguably the most famous Epiphone electric model with notable users of the model including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Original with the exception of a new nut and replaced pickguard. Very good condition with light wear, moderate dings, and some finish checking. This guitar plays great with excellent frets and has a wonderful acoustic resonance. The original P-90 pickups are very warm and sparkly when clean, but get punchy under gain with a forward midrange and classic bark! Includes original hardshell case.

"I believe it's important that we regularly remind ourselves that Epiphone used to be one of the unquestionably great American guitar manufacturers. The 30s and 40s saw the Queens-based New York shop consistently output some of the finest production archtop guitars ever made. During the 50s and 60s, the majority of which was under Gibson's ownership, the brand was also responsible for an astonishing number of innovative and well-made electric guitars. Somehow between then and now, the once-heralded Epiphone name has become synonymous with $99 guitar starter packs and inch-thick polyester finishes. Just one more story to add to the ever-lengthening compendium of our industry's grand injustices.

The Casino was a product of Epiphone's last dying breath of golden-era enthusiasm. Structurally very similar to Gibson's ES-330, a set of metal-covered P-90s were enough to distinguish the model both visually and tonally from its cousin. 60s examples much like this one have found their way into the hands of artists such as Howlin' Wolf, Keith Richards, and most Beatles. This one has received a new pickguard and nut but is untouched otherwise, complete with original hardshell case."
