Vintage 1954 Epiphone Deluxe Cutaway Guitar
Rare bird. This Deluxe is from the second batch of the two known batches to come out of Philadelphia. This model was the top of the Epiphone flat-top line with its flame Maple back and sides, cloud and flower inlay motif and multiple layers of binding.
This guitar is structurally solid with no cracks in the body. It currently needs a neck reset, binding repair and a new pickguard. The bridge plate, bridge and compensated Rosewood saddle are all in good original condition. The neck is straight and the truss rod is functioning. There is a hairline lacquer crack following the laminate down the center of the neck but it isn't structural. There is also a short horizontal hairline on the back of the neck at the bottom of the headstock. This is not a headstock break but a result of the effects of time on wood.
