Most of you know that Epiphones were made by Gibson in the Kalamazoo factory from 1959 through 1969 before they shipped the whole line off to the Far East. These were made by the same craftspeople as all the other Gibsons from the era. The Sheraton was the top of the Epiphone semi-hollow line. It is roughly the equivalent of a mono ES-355. The major difference is the mini humbuckers vs full size hums in the 355. Same design, same construction same everything except for the headstock and the fingerboard. But, they are less than half the price. This one left the factory with a "Trem-o-Tone" vibrato which has been removed and a stop tailpiece has been properly installed. There are four filled holes at the endpin but none in the top. Neck is chunky at the upper frets and slim at the lower frets just like the 64 ES-335 you really want but can't quite afford at $30K. It measures .80" at the first and .95" at the 12th. Nut width is 1 11/16". The guitar has been re-fretted. All parts are original except, of course, the tailpiece and studs. Red is not a common color for Sheratons - most were sunburst. Original grey with blue interior case.
