You can spend all day arguing about guitars and issues of playability and tone but amps are different. Nobody will try to tell you that replaced tweed sounds any different than original tweed. Most folks will accept reconed speakers with the understanding that 60 year old paper won't stand up to a dimed amp. Cap jobs, with the exception of those caps that affect tone, are pretty much expected in amps more than twenty years old. With an amp, your ears will tell you everything you need to know. With guitars, you'll need your eyes, fingers and maybe even your nose. The "middle" Fender Tweeds are all the same amp section (Pro, Super and Bandmaster)-a 6L6 circuit putting out 26 watts or so. The OT's are different ohms to accommodate the speaker load but they are all essentially the same. I think the Super has a lot of advantages over the alternatives (including a Deluxe and a Tremolux). It may be the perfect tweed Fender (it was Leo's favorite). 26 watts is the sweet spot for gigging in medium size venues. Enough headroom for a rhythm player and the dirt comes on early enough for the lead player to get away without blowing out everyone else. It's advantage over the Bandmaster is availability. There are probably three or four Supers for every Bandmaster sold. It has a weight advantage as well. The Pro gets very little love mostly because 15" speakers have gone out of favor. I think the Pro is perhaps the best deal of the tweeds but that's another listing. The Super has way more headroom than a Deluxe or a Tremolux and weighs only a couple of pounds more than a Deluxe and about the same as a Tremolux. This 58 is very nicely re-tweeded. The grill cloth is probably replaced as well. The transformers are original. The Astron tone caps are there. The speakers are P10Q's which I prefer-you can blow a pair of P10R's with this amp but the extra few watts the Q's get you will keep them from frying at high volume. One is a 58 and the other a 61. Both are re-coned. The amp sounds spectacular. I have a very clean original 58 in stock that I'd love to sell you for thousands more but tone wise this is its equal. So, save yourself a few grand and buy the re-tweed. Anyone standing more than a foot away won't know the difference. The cord has been changed to a three prong. The handle has been replaced. No returns on amps.
