Fender nailed this recreation of the 1970s favorite, the Telecaster Custom.
One key to this reissue was their accurate reproduction of the Wide Range CuNiFe humbucker pickup. Earlier efforts to remake the pickup changed the design, and not for the better. This pickup sounds authentic.
Maybe it is just coincidence, but the face of the headstock does appear to mimic an aged 70's Fender, which was oversprayed with nitro lacquer to protect the logo. That finish would yellow faster and more dramatically than the poly lacquer used on the rest of the guitar.
An improvement over most 70s examples: the guitar weighs just a bit under 7 pounds, 9 ounces.
This guitar was purchased from a friend who used the guitar at home. It never left the living room. He owned quite a few guitars, so it also didn't see much play. The frets look untouched.
The rest of the guitar is similarly clean and issue-free. The truss rod was checked to make sure there is room for future neck relief adjustments.
It was easy to set this one up with perfect action.
Everything that came with the guitar from Fender is included in the original case.
