This is a great sounding Fender Bassman from the 1970's. It has been modified w/ a presence and master volume control which are on the back. It is in excellent working condition.
Here are our tech notes.
Amp was built in early 1970 with some parts dating to 1969. It has the following modifications:
The phase inverter was converted to the more desirable AA864 circuit as you would find in a 1964 pre-CBS model. The extra gain stage these Bassmans had has been removed (this eliminates one of the 12AX7 tubes entirely) and the amp has a presence control and a post phase inverter master volume added. Both pots are on the back panel. The type of master volume allows for a harmonically rich and very fuzzed out distortion when the preamp volume is turned all the way up and the master is backed down. Not buzzy like your typical master volume. With the master all the way up it acts like a normal amp with a big, clear sound.
Also the amp is currently modified for 6CA7 / EL34 tubes. Currently has the very desirable Sylvania 6CA7 tubes loaded into it. This gives the amp a little more of a 'British" sound, better mids.
