Here's a 1953 Fender Blackguard Telecaster. Incredible, 100% original example. No breaks, cracks, repairs. The guitar originally belonged to the great jazz guitarist (and Tele collector & expert) Ted Greene. There's many pictures with him and the guitar online, as well as photo provenance that are included with the guitar. Ted passed away in 2005, and was purchased from his longtime girlfriend (who inherited the guitar) by Imperial Vintage Guitars. A letter from his girlfriend, as well as one from the owner of Imperial Vintage, are all included. It's an honor to have this amazing guitar in our possession and share with you all!
The guitar is everything you want a Blackguard Tele to be. The pots date it to June of 1953, as well as the cavity date to 6/15/53 (Gloria). Untouched solder joints. Ted liked to experiment with guitars. He left this one alone except for removing the lacquer on the end of the neck, where the pencil date is located. He did this to achieve better contact with the body. Talk about a tone guru! And the guitar sounds incredible!! Loud & snappy unplugged. The neck pickup measures at 5.35k, and the bridge pickup 6.07k. The neck feels and plays like a dream! It measures .91" in depth at the 1st fret, 1.01" at the 12th fret. Not too big, not too small. Fits like a glove in your hand. The action is low from top to bottom, with exceptional playability. The original frets are in nice shape, and still have life left. The guitar is impossible to put down!! This is an incredibly special piece. Along with the provenance, the guitar comes with the original ashtray cover, and its clean, and completely in tact original "poodle" case!
