In 1992, the first Fender Custom Shop series of instruments was released. The Set-Neck series, a few Artist models, and the Custom Classic series were the first instruments offered by the Custom Shop. The Custom Classics were described by Fender as "classic renditions of the legendary instruments that laid the groundwork for the sound, feel, and urgency of rock and roll today." The Custom Classic series consisted of the American Classic, 1954 Reissue, and 1960 reissues. This guitar is from the 1960 Reissue series, with quilted maple top and gold hardware.
