Fender Custom Shop 2023 Limited Edition 1959 Special Stratocaster Journeyman Relic
This is a limited edition '1959 Special Stratocaster Journeyman Relic' model, ordered at the 2023 Custom Shop Online event.
It is finished in Super Faded Sonic Blue, with a 3A grade flame maple neck and special blender wiring.
This is a reproduction of a 1959 Stratocaster with a slab-laminated fingerboard, and a 3-ply mint green pickguard with an 8-point stop, as existed in early 1959.
The body is Journeyman Relic, a slightly more restrained look between Relic and Closet Classic, and the back of the neck is "Heavy Relic" with the paint stripped off.
The neck is a relatively slim "59 Esquire C" shape with a 9.5 radius fingerboard and jumbo type frets.
The pickups are hand-wound Ancho Poblano ('22) signed "VC".
The "STRAT BLENDER w/GREASEBUCKET TONE" control is 1 volume/1 tone/blender and is wired to blend the bridge humbucker when the neck is selected (anti-clockwise) and the neck single when the bridge is selected (anti-clockwise). The greasebucket tone circuit prevents volume drop when the tone is turned down.
There is no fret wear, and the neck and truss rod are both in good working order.
