Description

This Fender Custom Shop ‘56 Stratocaster Heavy Relic in Aged Sherwood Green Metallic harks back to Fender’s pre-CBS golden era with vintage-inspired appointments and ever-lauded Fender Custom Shop artistry.

Weighing in at only 7lbs 11oz, the body is a deep-contoured, lightweight alder—1956 being the first year Fender made the switch from ash on some their Strats. ‘56 also saw the advent of the beloved 10/56 “V” neck featured on this guitar. The maple neck has a more modern radius of 9.5” with a hefty fret depth of .940” - .970” from the 1st to the 12th fret. The fingerboard is appointed with wide-spaced, black micarta .250” dots, 21 narrow tall 6105 frets, and there is some finger wear down to the wood on most frets throughout the neck.

This guitar is finished in an eye-catching Aged Sherwood Green Metallic with a heavy but judicious Relic job. There is some forearm wear, buckle rash, and chipping throughout the body with small dings and some tasteful checking to boot. The back of the neck worn delightfully smooth from the top of the skunk stripe down to the 12th fret

The pickups are hand wound Strat Fat ‘50s in the neck, middle and bridge all controlled by a 5-way blade selector, two tone knobs, and a master volume.

Ships complete with lacquered tweed Fender Custom Shop hard case, COA, and all case candy.
