MBS 1961 Stratocaster Heavy Relic by Jason Smith
Jason Smith joined the Fender Custom Shop in 1995, building a variety of guitars under Custom Shop legendary master builder John English.
He has also worked on guitars for artists such as Michael Landau, RHCP's Flea, and Josh Klinghoffer.
Now in stock is a 1961 Stratocaster Heavy Relic built by Jason Smith.
It has a black Rosewood fingerboard, and the body is decorated with Hevy Relic that looks as if it has been used for decades.
The Relic finish is not deliberate and reproduces the scratches and other marks that might occur when playing or carrying the instrument.
The body has a thick bass range, which is typical of the 60's, and at the same time, it has a crisp mid-high range, which is reminiscent of the 50's.
The response to attack is fast, and the intensity of the picking can be reproduced well.
This Strat can be played bluesy with Tube Screamer or modern distortion for cutting and soloing.
The tone effect on the rear pickup is also very useful!
