Summary: Released as the flagship models of Fender’s “Master Series” in the eighties, these high end archtop jazz guitars were designed by acclaimed luthier James D’Aquisto and built to his exacting specifications in Japan.
Body: Full hollow body. Maple arched top, arched back and sides. Multi-ply bound top and back. Single cutaway.
Neck: Three-piece maple with bound rosewood fretboard. Mother of pearl dot inlays. 24.75” scale length. 12” radius. 1.7” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: Two specially designed humbucker pickups. Three-way pickup toggle. Two volume and two tone controls with wooden knobs. Rosewood floating bridge and rosewood tailpiece. Bound rosewood pickguard. Fender-branded tuners.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in excellent condition with hardly any wear to body or neck. Some fret wear, mainly in the middle stretch of the board, is about the only sign that this guitar has been played.
Playability: This guitar plays beautifully with low, supple action and no buzz or dead spots. The maple body has a lively acoustic tone; plugged in, the tone from the pickups is warm and complex, perfect for jazz lines and comping.
