This 1966 Fender Duo Sonic II is the maturation of the model that Fender began manufacturing in 1956 as part of their entry level offering.
The Duo Sonic started out in the 50s with a 22.5" scale and the most basic features, though they were constructed of the same materials as the Stratocaster and Telecaster. The pickups in these guitars in particular make them desirable for players - they are virtually the same as high end Fenders.
The Duo Sonic II was introduced in 1964 with a 24" scale, bringing it closer to the forefront for players. The look and control layout was updated as well, adding features found on the popular Mustang but with a hardtail bridge rather than the Mustang tremolo.
This particular Duo Sonic II shows some wear but is in excellent condition. All the parts, finish and frets are original. There is a slight bit of solder touch up on the pickup selector switches, otherwise everything under the hood is original.
The frets have been milled in the past but have plenty of life left for years of future service. The truss rod is loosened nearly all the way, but we were able to set the guitar up nicely with 10-46 strings.
The original hardshell case is included.
