Summary: The Fender Jaguar was introduced as a high-end model guitar four years after the Jazzmaster. Though similar to the Jazzmaster in its offset body and lead/rhythem circuits controls, the Jaguar differed in two key ways. For one, the Jaguar used a shorter 24-inch scale length compared to the 25 1/2-inch of most Fender guitars. Additionally, the Jaguar used two thinner single-coil pickups compared to the feedback-prone soapbox pickups of the Jazzmaster. The Jaguar was not as popular as the Telecaster or Strat in its initial run, but has found some popularity with punk, grunge and indie rockers since. This particular Jaguar has been refinished to the natural wood and we have given it a complete re-fret – it also has a “mastery bridge” added!
Body: One piece offset alder solid body electric guitar
Neck: One piece maple neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, clay dot inlays, 22 frets (recently re-fretted), vintage kluson style tuning keys, 1 5/8” nut width, 24” scale length.
Pickups/Hardware: 2 original Fender Jaguar pickups, 3 toggle switch controls on the bottom, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, 2 roller controls on the upper plate with a toggle switch
Cosmetics: This vintage Fender Jaguar has been stripped down to the natural wood and there are some various nicks & dings on the body but it really does look beautiful in person. There are scratches on the pickguard but it also looks really awesome when you get it in your hands. The metal plates are showing signs of pitting with scratching & wear that is consistent with a guitar from 1964.
Playability: We recently had our in-house luthier do a complete fret job on this vintage Fender & it now plays awesome! The Mastery bridge makes it even better. We set this instrument up with 10’s and it is plays great with low action all the way up & down the fingerboard.
Modifications: This Jaguar has a “Mastery Bridge” added, a new professional Re-fret, replacement knobs and a stripped finish.
