Description

Before writing this description, I wanted to get a vibe about Mr. Burton so as to relate to this exceptional Telecaster. I looked up a bunch of videos and it quickly became obvious how he has mastered this instrument while affecting the music industry for decades. The video that got me, though was when he played "Johnny B. Goode" over his shoulder during an Elvis concert in Omaha, Nebraska in 1977. Smiling while joking around with The King just did it for me and that is what I want to take away from Mr. James Burton. A true master and talent indeed.

There's everything to love about this Burton Signature Tele and while I am aware that there are 24 used and 30 new examples on the market at the time of this listing, I would like to add one small additional mark of credence to this particular guitar;

This Tele came from and was hand-picked by one of the greatest and most underrated guitarists ever to emerge from the Southeast, Mr. Wallace Reed. I tell you this because when Wallace picks out a guitar, it has to have certain qualities, ala' you ain't gonna find a ten pound Tele in the bunch. Nope, he picks them for their resonance, build quality, weight and whether the guitar has that "it" factor. So, with that said, this guitar is full of "it"...

Clean is the word here and with the exception of a few pick swirls and a small smudge mark on the gold electronics plate, this guitar looks virtually unplayed. It weighs in at an incredible 6 lbs, 9.9 oz so it automatically becomes a contender for "Best Lightweight Supporting Actor in a Telecaster Beauty Contest." The original case is also super clean and includes the case candy.

With the James Burton moniker firmly in place and the Wallace Reed seal of approval given, we say that this Burton Tele is the cream of the crop. Please take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, thank you for stopping by!
