Fender Japan was established in 1982, but the name "Fender Japan" disappeared in 2015 due to a change of distributor.
After that, the original Fender still manufactures high quality instruments as MIJ (Made In Japan) series, but Fender Japan has gained a high reputation as Japan Vintage and is popular both at home and abroad.
The PB57 is a reproduction of a 1957 Precision bass featuring a maple fingerboard and one-ply pickguard.
This PB57-55 uses basswood for the body.
Basswood is often thought of as a wood used for inexpensive instruments, but it is characterized by its light weight and bright tone without any peculiarities.
While it has a punch in the mid-range that is typical of plebe, the bass tone is not too thick, and the maple fingerboard gives it a clean sound with a fast tone rise.
The impression is that the sound character is not too sensitive to the characteristics of the amp used, making it easy to create the sound with amp EQ and effectors!
This is a must-try for those who dislike basswood!
