Description
Summary: The Fender Jazz Bass was introduced in 1960 as a higher-end alternative to the Precision Bass with closer string spacing, a thinner neck profile at the nut, and two punchy single-coil pickups. The Jazz Bass evolved in several subtle ways throughout the ‘60s with major changes coming during the CBS Fender buyout of 1965. This is a fine example of an early '70s CBS-era Jazz bass, played a bit but is in well-preserved condition. It dates to 1971 and shows typical features for that period, still retaining the vibe of the late 1960s.

Body: Solid double cutaway Jazz bass with a Sunburst finish.

Neck: Maple with a bound Rosewood fingerboard, 34” scale length, 1 7/16” nut width, 20 frets, pearl block inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: Two single coil pickups, two volume/master tone controls, Fender open gear tuning keys, original pickup covers, thumb rest, original pickguard.

Cosmetics: This bass is in excellent vintage condition. It has various nicks, dings, and scratches on the body and headstock. The back of the neck is clean with just a few very small dings. The gloss goat on the back of the neck is still fully intact. The frets are in great shape. The case does smell a bit like cigarettes. We currently have baking soda containers inside the case. It seems to have gotten better, but there is still a smell. The bass has a very light smell but is barely there. We can ship the bass and the case separately if you would like.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this bass with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Weight: 9.305 lbs.

Case: This bass ships in the original hardshell case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
