軽やかで心地よいカッティングでのサウンドも魅力の1966バインドブロック
1958年に当時のラインナップとしては最上級機種として発売されたジャズマスター。ストラトキャスター同様の21フレットに25.5インチスケールネックを採用、ソープバータイプの大きなピックアップに、ビグスビーの様に揺らぎの大きなビブラートサウンドを醸し出す、フローティング・トレモロ・ユニットも大きな特徴です。1980年頃に一旦生産終了となりますが、90年代に台頭するグランジやオルタネイティヴ等のミュージシャン達に支持される事で、90年代後半には再生産される事となります。
この1966年製のジャズマスターはローズウッド・フィンガーボードとメイプル・ネックの接合面が曲面に貼られているラウンドボードを採用しています。ラウンドボードは全音域帯にタイトでバランスの良いサウンドが特徴。過渡期のバインド/ブロックのネックも特徴。ソープバーピックアップの高音域にザラつきと抜けがありながら、中音域に太さも兼ね備えたサウンドでヴィンテージのジャズマスターサウンドを十二分に堪能出来るモデル。フレイムの浮いたネックは見た目にも美しく、演奏者のテンションを上げてくれる個体。ヴィンテージならではの色気のあるサウンドはリーシューモデルでは味わえないオリジナルサウンドです。
