Description

This Jazzmaster body came in as part of a full guitar with a fistful of great parts but a list of issues that make it more viable to part out.

The pickguard, one potentiometer, neck plate, tuners, tremolo, bridge base and case are all correct for the year. The black bottom pickups made it into our '61 Jazzmaster. One pot was changed and the refinished neck has a repaired crack in the headstock. The guitar came with a brown case, which is correct for the period.

The body retains the internal shielding in the control cavity and one pickup cavity. Unfortunately, the person who sprayed the body did so over the control cavity plate. This is good however in that the original sunburst finish lives on under the plate. All other cavities and the neck pocket are completely sprayed. It does appear that the original finish was either sprayed over or properly stripped because the contours of the body are intact - they weren't sanded down.

The Fiesta Red finish is reasonably good - you might just roll with it as is as it has aged and resembles Fender's color pretty closely.

Pictures of the assembled guitar and parts other than the body are for illustrative purposes only and are not included.

Tonight I put a few glops of stripper down in the cavities to see if I could find a pencil date, but none was present. The original sunburst finish is under there though, as it is in the control cavity that had the shielding plate in when refinished.

I did the same with the control cavity shield - it could be completely cleaned up very easily.
