It’s always great getting to play a first-year Fender Stratocaster, especially when it feels and sounds like this extremely early, tremolo cover serialized Stratocaster in Sunburst! This guitar was part of the very first batch of Stratocasters, made between April and June of 1954, and features a serial number that is directly on the back tremolo cover, rather than at the neck plate. These guitars were used as salesman samples, only about 200 are known to exist, and their serial numbers predate the standard neck plate ones! The former owner of this guitar certainly played it and did their best to maintain its beauty, functionality, and originality. It is truly an incredible instrument and piece of history!
