This incredible 1962 Fender Stratocaster in its original Red Sparkle finish comes from one of our owner’s personal stash! If you look closely, this sparkle finish actually has little flecks of silver and purple glitter in the mix, along with the red. Fender made a few sparkle guitars in the early to mid-60s, and they are often one of a kind. This guitar and its finish are factory original, although Fender would send the bodies to local autobody shops or Dennis Swiden, namely, to apply the sparkle paint. These pre-CBS appointments look incredible on this guitar, the green guard especially plays well off the Red Sparkle finish. You know a guitar is impressive when it’s been in our owner’s personal collection! Read what David has said about this guitar below:
“I bought this 1962 Red Sparkle Stratocaster with Purple Fleck from my friend Joe in the mid-1990s. It was one of the first sparkles I bought, and I knew I needed to keep it for myself. It has a beautiful thick neck and plays very well. I don’t keep many guitars, but this one was special… Eventually, the time came to buy a home, and I had to sacrifice many guitars I loved. Knowing that I always wanted to keep it close to me, I eventually put it into the collection that would become Songbirds. I am so fortunate to have had a second chance to own it, but as I get older and my arthritis worsens, I know it’s once again time to let it go. I hope someone else gets the opportunity to own this very special, very original sparkle.”
