Description

Now available from the family of its original owner, a 1968 Fender Stratocaster in its original 3-tone sunburst!

This example still features the earlier transition logo and nitrocellulose lacquer finish, these specs change only a few months later.

The only changed part is a new nut at some point, otherwise the guitar appears totally original. The original frets do have significant play wear, especially in the first few frets, however the guitar still plays up and down the neck without any issues.

All of the original hardware and plastics remain, as do all of the electronics. The 3x original CTS pots date to the 18th week of '66, and the wiring appears all untouched including the green ceramic capacitor only seen in this year. This guitar also features 3x original black bottom pickups with plain enamel wire, which is rarely seen in '67-68.

The guitar has a nice throaty mid-range tonally as well, making this one of the better sounding late 60s strats to come through here.

A fantastic example of a rare year for the Stratocaster, includes its original Stamford Australian import case and tremolo arm.
