1988 Fender Stratocaster Black MIJ

This Fender Stratocaster was made in Japan in 1988 and is in excellent condition. This guitar shows only minor play wear throughout and is just a super tidy example! There are some very small scratches on the body edges that wouldn’t show up in photos and the bridge saddles have some rust. The strap buttons and switch tip are replacements, but the rest of the instrument is bone stock. We purchased this fine old Stratocaster from the original owner who enjoyed it and took amazing care of it since day one. This instrument has an E serial number and this series was produced by Fender Japan from 1984-1989. This guitar has a righteous feeling medium chunky “C” shaped neck profile with super soft rounded shoulders that just feels awesome in the hand. This neck is very easy and fun to play and it just has a bit more heft to it than modern Fenders or the American Standards from this time period. The original frets are in excellent condition and show very little play wear. These frets show no dents or divots and have tons of “meat” left in them. This guitar has been set up here in our shop and it plays tremendously up and down the maple fingerboard with low smooth action and great intonation. The electronics are original, haven’t been tampered with and are in perfect working order. The original pickups sound fantastic and deliver very sparkly, clean tones with plenty of power and quack in the 2 and 4 positions. I plugged this Stratocaster straight into a 1966 Fender Super Reverb and it is truly “all the Strat” that anyone would ever need. We love the overall vibe of this guitar and a black Strat with a single ply white pickguard is pretty hard to beat! This guitar is housed in a cool old rectangular hardshell case with blue plush interior that the original owner said came with the guitar when he bought it brand new and the original tremolo arm is included. This Stratocaster weighs 8lb even and will ship out promptly and securely from our little shop here in Tennessee to your front door!
