Who buys vintage guitar amps? We do!
Call 530-570-1525 or email sales@maharsvintageguitars.com to sell your vintage guitar amp, guitar, bass, amplifier, etc - one piece or a collection! We are always ready to buy instruments, amps and effects from Fender, Gibson, Martin, Epiphone, Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Marshall, Vox and just about anything else related to musical instruments.
If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook you've seen my posts of the amps I've recently acquired. This one is among the best, in my humble opinion.
The amp appears to be completely original. The caps show no signs of distress, so we're leaving them as is. While I would recommend a filter cap update if you plan to use the amp regularly, I just feel that it is right to leave this amp in its pristine state as you just don't come across 'em like this much any more. However, we would be happy to replace the filter caps if the buyer would like that as an upgrade.
The amp runs strong and quiet, and the tremolo as well after a quick repair. Original capacitors included (3).
The power tubes appear to be original.. We replaced the preamp tubes in full with new JJs, as well as the rectifier tube.
In 1960, the Super Amp was redesigned along with the remainder of the Professional Series of Fender amplifiers. The 5G4 Super Amp was clad in light brown tolex and outfitted with a forward facing control panel. The chassis contained a larger circuit with 5 preamp tubes to support a new onboard vibrato circuit. The Super, however, was the only one of these updated Professional amps to retain its tube rectifier, giving it a unique sound more akin to the preceding tweed 5F4 design. By the end of 1960, the vibrato circuit was beefed up again resulting in the 6 preamp tube model 6G4 followed shortly after by the 6G4-A. This latter model (6G4-A) is the most common design lasting from mid 1961 to 1963 until the Super-Reverb Amp was debuted.
The amp will be shipped in two boxes. Buyers should be OK with re-assembly. Shipping as one piece jeopardizes the chassis due to the weight of the transformers.
