1952 Fender Telecaster

This refinished player-grade 1952 Fender Telecaster has tons of vibe and wear in all the right places for a killer relic'd aesthetic! Well-loved and heavily played so it is channeled out perfectly fpr tons of sustain and natural resonance and it plays amazingly well with a great feel thanks to a pro re-fret and a replaced nut. Other modifications include a replaced decal, replaced jack and cap, replaced bridge saddles and neck plate, and the body was routed/refilled for a humbucker by R.S. Guitarworks. The soul of this guitar shines and the original bones are still here with a Tadeo Gomez "2-25-52" body date and a "5-21-52" neck date, and let us not forget the incredible sounding vintage PUs! "Given the proper motivation, I could easily produce a list as long as my arm of the reasons why I love the Telecaster. The model needs no introduction, requires no explanation, and is generally an easy instrument to love. One detail that makes the Tele stand out over other vintage guitars, though, is the consistency of its role throughout the decades. I would submit that the Telecaster is the only major midcentury guitar design that has been continuously used primarily for the application it was built to fill.

The Les Paul, for example, was developed to be a jazz guitar but only found commercial success when adopted by rock and blues musicians. The Martin OM was aimed squarely at big band rhythm players of 1929, and instead became the world’s favorite fingerstyle guitar. Fender’s own Jazzmaster proved suitable for just about everything but jazz. But the Telecaster? Designed for country musicians in 1949, and remains the quintessential guitar for modern hillbillies young and old. An unflinching oak.

Our love for all Blackguards is of course ubiquitous; however, this sensational ’52 exhibits all the qualities that most Tele aficionados find most desirable. A chunky C neck profile combined with an old-growth ash body is the known recipe for a sonorous and responsive Tele, and this one has both in spades. This guitar has seen some modifications in its day but truly looks and feels the part. It has been recently refinished to obscure some previous routing around the neck pickup, but was done so tastefully. The nut, frets, and pickguard have also been updated in a similar fashion. This old Blackguard is far from a museum piece, but with the prices for originals creeping steadily toward six figures, we consider this one a real bargain."
