Offered is this very cool vintage Telecaster Thinline built in 1972, the first year of production for this two humbucker version. This guitar is serial number 383183.
This version of the Thinline was introduced in 1972 and was based on the Telecaster Deluxe of that era. It has a semi-hollow ash body and a one piece maple neck with the walnut 'skunk' stripe and the "bullet" truss rod. It has a three bolt neck plate, a six saddle bridge and Fender wide range humbucking pickups. This one has a C-shaped neck with depth measurements of .850" at the first fret increasing to .930" at the twelfth fret. It weighs 7 pounds, 10 ounces and is nicely balanced strapped on. This guitar has a neck date of December, 1972 and the pickups both date to 1972. The CTS pots date to May, 1972 and July 1972, respectively. It appears that the tone pot was replaced very early in the guitar's life, or later using a vintage replacement. Everything else on this guitar is original. The original frets remain in very good condition with lots of life left in them.
This 50 year old guitar has been extremely well cared for. It remains in fabulous condition! A small area of scuffing and some shrinkage in the original pearloid pickguard (see photos) are the worst of the flaws you will find. It looks, sounds and plays great. Please check out the brief sound sample included below. It comes in its original G&G case along with the original Fender instruction booklet. The exterior of the case is in rough shape, but the interior remains in excellent condition with no nasty odors.
If you are looking for an affordable vintage Telecaster that you can play every night, this cool Thinline warrants your serious consideration. A great vintage Tele at a great price. Make it yours!
