Behold, this 1972 Fender Thinline Telecaster (Series II) in its original Lake Placid Blue Finish! By 1972 Fender had revamped their Telecaster Thinline to include 2 humbucking pickups and a 3-bolt neck with micro-tilt adjustment capabilities. These new pickups were known as “CuNiFe” or “Wide Range” pickups and were designed by none other than new Fender employee, Seth Lover. You may recognize him from his previous work at Gibson, where he designed their humbucking pickup. The new micro-tilt neck was designed to allow players and techs to incrementally increase the neck pitch, without having to remove the neck entirely. Very few Thinlines were made in custom colors, making this particular guitar in Lake Placid quite rare! This one retains its true blue finish without any fading or yellowing with age.
