1990 American Standard Jazz Bass “Long Horn”

American Standardは1986年に登場してから30年も販売されたロングセラーシリーズ。現在はAmerican Professionalとして展開しています。
1990年製の本機は通常のジャズベースシェイプとは異なり、1弦側のカッタウェイが深く、4弦側のホーンが長く突き出たシェイプ。
アルダーボディ、スラブ・ローズウッド指板で、コントロールは2ボリュームとTBXコントロールとなっています。
レアな仕様ではありますが、トラディショナルなFenderらしさを持ちつつも、モダンな挑戦をしてきたAmerican Standardシリーズらしい1本。
TBXコントロールはあまり馴染みのないベーシストの方も多いかと思いますが、センタークリックを基準に、1~5が通常のトーンコントロール、6~10がローカットして高音を強調する働きをします。
ローカットといっても効きはゆるやかで、アンプやエフェクターのEQでは変化させづらい、音の抜けを良くしたい時に扱いやすいコントロールとなっています。
立ち上がりの速い中高音域が特徴的なサウンドで、スラップした際のニュアンスの出しやすさが非常に好印象です！
