Wow - what a beauty, and a rare one as well.

If you're looking at this you likely know the history of Flatiron, so I'll keep it brief. There is a lot of reading you can do out there on the interwebs to fill in the blanks if you wish, but don't spend too much time doing so as this might just disappear while you're studying.

Flatiron was an independent shop in Bozeman, Montana, founded in part by Bruce Weber, known for the fine line of Weber instruments. In 1996, Gibson purchased Flatiron, eventually moving production to their Nashville facility. The instruments maintained the Flatiron name, and until 1999, they retained the same renowned build features. Gibson made changes to the line thereafter.

If you're looking at this you also know what you can expect from this mandolin in the way of playability and sound. I'm no mandolin player - I have just a few chords in me - but I can tell you that it sounds as good as any of the fine vintage mandolins I've come across over the years.

The instrument is very, very clean with just a few signs that it has been played. The woods are exquisite, as is the fit and finish.

There are no issues whatsoever with the mandolin. The saddle was changed out as the original had sagged a bit. The original is not included.

The original case is in great shape as well.
