SN 134. Stunning Fletcher Brock octave mandolin made in 2010 in as new condition finished in optional sunburst. This one has a beautiful L-5-like body with a 14 - 3/8” lower bout. The finish looks like a hand rubbed varnish (not lacquer as previously stated) shaded to a vintage Gibson-like sunburst. Only one of two made this way. The top is X-braced Engelmann spruce with F holes. Back and sides are flamey Big Leaf maple shaded dark in the waist and the butt end and rubbed to a traditional sunburst on the back – a flamey sunset. The neck is two-piece red maple with an adjustable truss rod with additional reinforcement in the peg head. The instrument is fully bound. The finger board, bridge and pickguard are in ebony. The scale length is 21 - 1/2”. Tuners are Gotoh minis in gold plate. The adjustable bridge is ebony and the tail piece is a gold Monteleone, which accepts either loop or ball end strings. The tone on this one is fuller and richer than other Octave Mandolin’s I’ve heard. On my web site, I’ve attached a link to an similar one being played on a porch in Colorado and the amazing Sarah Jarosz playing hers. Comes with the original Cedar Creek custom case and truss rod wrench.
