RCA 6L6GC Black Plates

RCA 6L6GC tubes are considered by many audiophiles and musicians to be the gold standard for vintage 6L6s. GE 6L6GC Grey Plates

GE 6L6GC tubes, while sharing some similarities with RCA, are known for their clarity and tighter response. They provide a touch more detail than their RCA counterparts, making them a good choice for musicians who want more articulation and brightness in their sound.

Preamp Tubes

1. RCA Black Plate Set: 12AX7, 12BH7, 12AU7

For the warmest, smoothest tone, this set is the top choice for any discerning audiophile who wants a warm, robust sound. The RCA black plate tubes are known for their rich sound and gentle highs, making them the perfect match for vintage tube gear. This combination delivers a warm, lush sound, minimizing shrillness. 

2. RCA Long Gray Plate Set: 12AX7, 12BH7, 12AU7

Looking for a touch more detail without losing too much warmth? The RCA long gray plate tubes provide a brighter sound with increased clarity while still maintaining that vintage charm. Ideal for those seeking a more detailed soundstage, this set is a great option at a slightly lower price point. 

3. GE Long Plate Set: 12AX7, 12BH7, 12AU7

For a more budget-friendly option, GE long plates offer a similar sound profile to the RCA long grey plates but at a reduced cost. Expect slightly less detail compared to the RCA sets, but still a high-quality performance that complements your MC240 beautifully. 

All options will sound better than any modern tubes made.

NOS vs. ANOS vs. Test NOS

These designations are strictly used to describe the cosmetic condition of our tubes. All tubes we sell test identically, come with 100% life and are guaranteed to work in your device!

If you are picky about owning an original box or wanting a specific logo please reach out to us before purchasing.

1. NOS (New Old Stock) Tubes- are 100% brand new vintage tubes in mint cosmetic condition with show zero signs of use. You should expect a legible logo and clean straight pins. An original box is likely but not guaranteed. 

2. ANOS Tubes- otherwise known as “almost new old stock” tubes are basically new, but may show slight signs of use in cosmetic condition, such as a missing logo or slightly bent pins. An original box is possible but unlikely. 

3. Test NOS Tubes- are used but still operating to specification with 100% life. These tubes are equal in function to NOS valves, yet they cost considerably less because they have cosmetic blemishes. If you plan to disappear your tubes into the back of an amplifier or do not care what the tubes look like, then this is cost effective choice. Logos: Vintage tubes have a wide variety of logos printed on them. It is not uncommon to see a Mullard made tube with an RCA or GE logo, or a GE made tube with a Mullard logo. Your tube may come with a logo such are Heath Kit, Baldwin, Fisher, Hammond, Magnavox, Fender, Gibson, Silvertone, etc. but the true manufacturer of that tube will be correct to your order. If you are looking for a specific logo please reach out before purchase.

• All tubes are tested on a calibrated Hickok 539C, Maxi-Matcher, E-Tracer or other industry standard tube analyzers
• Tubes are guaranteed for one year and can be returned within 30 days
• Preamp tubes matched by gain and mutual conductance (Gm)
• Power tubes matched by mA and Gm
