DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1977 Fylde Falstaff in a natural finish. Roger Bucknall started Fylde Guitars in 1973 after receiving a Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nottingham University. He is known for his high end acoustics that feature both traditional hand built techniques as well as modern design. He is created for inventing “A-Frame” bracing. Roger originally built this guitar for a ragtime guitars named John James around 1977.
Specs! This guitar is all original and in very good condition. Chrome Schaller tuner. Rosewood nut with a width of 1-13/16″. Has a zero fret. The neck is made of Burr rosewood and “Palisander” and has a depth of .84″ at the first fret and 1.09″ at the twelfth fret. It has a 25.5″ scale length. Macassar ebony fingerboard with a 16″ radius. Custom Rodger Bucknall purfling. The original 20 medium frets are in very good condition. The top is a high grade German spruce. The center sections of the back are Burr Indian rosewood. The outsides of the back and the sides are “Palisander”. The bridge is made of Macassar ebony. Bone saddle. Comes with its original Hiscox hard shell case. Weighs 4 pounds and 11 ounces.
A voice all its own! This Falstaff sounds great! It has a very unique voice that is loud and punchy. Particular distinctive in the accentuated low mids/bass section and treble. Plays great, comfortable neck with a traditional body size. Nice weight. An early example of a great luthiers work. We’re very happy to have gotten our first Fylde in!
