1966 Gibson 1966 SG Special Small Guard Red Brand New $2,595.00
You're looking at what may be one of the last small-guard SG's. This same year Gibson switched over to the large, one-size-fits-all guard. It also has the deeper carved cutaways like the very first ones, so this one is from before Gibson stream-lined everything in cost cutting moves.
This one is in great playing shape though it was modded by a previous owner. It has a the usual Grover tuner upgrade and it was routed out for a humbucker in the bridge position (so you can pop one back in should you desire). It also has a pro-refret so it plays like butter. The bridge volume pot was also replaced. Both pickups are period correct. The neck has the typical later 60s thin-to-thick profile.
Comes with a modern Gibson case to keep it safe.
