The name "Gibson" has always been synonymous with "quality," and it has been that way for over 100 years. Once you earn that kind of reputation, you've got to back it up, especially with your top shelf guitars like the L-5.
This thing is an all around work of art, but one that never forgets that it is meant to be played and heard. It's got a job to do. Yep, it's got a great sunburst, gold hardware, ebony board, flower-pot heastock inlay, figured maple sides and well... the works! That said, the thing that really makes it sing is the expert archtop construction and killer set of patent-sticker pickups.
It's in great shape and every owner has done a great job stewarding this one through the years. Right now it's got some never vintage sized frets. The knobs were changed for a more 50's look but the originals are included too. The bridge has an expertly made Gagnon saddle. The neck angle is good and while there is some paint checking along the seam with the body the neck has never been out of the guitar. There's a "2" on the back of the headstock so it must have had some kind of paint flaw, but 50 years on that is of little consequence.
The L-5 has a17" lower bout and a slightly longer 25.25" scale length. As a later 60's Gibson it has a slimmer neck and nut.
Comes with a vintage Gibson case and the hangtags!
