1973年から発売したギブソンL6-S。1975年頃に廉価版モデルのL6-S DELUXEの発売と同時期にL6-SはL6-S CUSTOMと名前を変更します。
ギブソンでは非常に珍しいメイプルネックにメイプルボディを採用したモデルで、メイプル材特有の強いアタックと、芯のしっかりした抜けの良いサウンドが特徴です。各ピックアップのボリュームとトーンの他に、6ポジションのトーンセレクタースイッチを装備しており、各ピックアップサウンドの他にフェイズアウトサウンド等多彩なサウンドが得られる構造です。
カルロス・サンタナやキース・リチャーズが使用した事でも知られる個体で、復刻モデルも発売されており、個性的なルックスとギブソンながら他の機種と一線を画したサウンドで人気のギター。周りからは「えっギブソンなの?」とか言われるかもですが、この独特なサウンドにハマるとクセになる個体です。
