Bargain of the decade. A true-to-life Gibson Byrdland from the late 1960s and it plays like a dream and sounds like one too. Cosmetics of some metal parts a bit below par but what does one want to do with a real-deal 1960s Gibson like this, play it or wear it? As on so many arch-top Gibsons of the period, the pickguard was made from a nitrate that oxidized unceremoniously over time and caused some of the gold plating on the pickup covers and bridge to well, look kinda funky. That pickguard was replaced with a beautifully-made replica years later, made from, inexplicably, the same stuff, starting to commence to begin to be about to look like it's on its way too. Oh well, this can be dealt with later on. Entire guitar has one very professional coat of lacquer overspray, undetectable to all but the most experienced eye, took me forever to be absolutely sure of this. OTOH, it does look great and the functionally of this 1969 Byrdland is tops in every way. That unique and oh-so-friendly 23-1/4” scale and 1-5/8” nut make this fab archtop Gibson a true 1960s classic with solid spruce carved top, an instrument to play and send you flying like no other. Offered as is and sensibly priced well below market at only $7995 w/ohsc
