Design The CF-100E was Gibson's first flat-top guitar with a cutaway and a built-in pickup. It was based on the CF-100, a fully acoustic guitar, but with a P-90 pickup added at the end of the fingerboard and top-mounted controls.,possible hairline body side, The CF-100E was built with a Sitka spruce top, exact replica Brazilian Rosewood bridge mahogany back and sides, and a bound Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard.
Sound The CF-100E had a balanced tone and impressive projection. It sounded great acoustically and had a clean, clear electric tone when plugged in.
ProductionGibson produced the CF-100E from 1951 to 1959, making about 1,300 of them. Gibson reissued a limited number of CF-100Es in the 1990s, but they are not readily available.
PlayersThe CF-100E was a favorite among country and western players. Leon Redbone was a notable endorser of the model.
