This is my first Gibson Challenger, nearly 30 years into the guitar business!

An entry level guitar built from 1983 through 1985, the Challenger filled in for the former entrant in its price class, the Marauder.

The body is made of mahogany and the neck of maple with a rosewood fretboard. The weight is right on at 8lbs 2.2 ounces.

The guitar is understated and simple but plays well and sounds good too. It seems like a good platform for customization. The body routing allows some room for creativity.

In the past, the output jack lead was unsoldered from the pickguard and the bridge wire was cut, presumably for someone else's customization idea. There are no alterations to the wood or added pickguard screw holes. The original wiring is in place with these two points having altered solder joints. All else about the guitar is stock. There is one tuner gear cover missing.

Frets are in excellent condition, as is the rest of the guitar, functionally and cosmetically. The truss rod was tested and is fully functional for future adjustment.

Included is a non original case.
