The 1958-1960 Les Paul Sunburst, commonly known as "Burst," is the only Les Paul Standard in existence from 1958 to 1960. The number of "Burst" was 1712 from 1958 to 1960, but the number was even less because the gold top was also released at the same time in 1958. The number of "bursts" in existence is said to be as few as 700, or about half of the total production, but they rarely appear on the market, and the overwhelmingly high market price has made them unaffordable for the average musician. This model is a reproduction of a "Burst" with the serial #9 1953, which is even identified by its serial number and certified as an original.
