DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1983 Gibson Custom Shop Explorer Korina with a Natural finish. Built before the Gibson Custom Shop was established but still labeled Custom Shop Edition on the back of the headstock. Wonderful Korina body, the finish has aged brilliantly. At some point two chips came out of both sides of the neck pocket, the tendon was never broken and they were professionally repaired using Korina! Non-original bridge and tail piece. Original set of Tim Shaw hand wound PAF humbuckers! Sounds incredible! Excellent condition frets, hard to believe after almost 40 years! Perfect low action, should be able to handle your heaviest riffs! Nice light weight for an Explorer. It’s one of those guitars you don’t even have to plug in, you can hear how brilliant and resonant it is with just a few picks!

This guitar is in good condition. Does not come with a case. Two significant chips happened on both sides of the neck pocket, the tendon was never broken and it was professionally repaired using Korina. Non-original bridge and tail piece. Edges of the body are worn.

1-11/16″ nut width. 24.75″ scale length.

Korina neck with a depth of .785″ (1st fret) and .95″ (12th fret). Rosewood fingerboard with a 12″ radius. Action measures 4/64″ straight across. Original 22 jumbo frets are in excellent condition.

Korina body with a natural finish. Beautiful checking throughout. Original two Tim Shaw hand wound PAF humbuckers.

Non-original but period correct ABR-1. Non-original Sung-Il tail piece. Gibson labeled tuners.
